Stacie Huckeba has spent thirty years as a photographer and video producer in the music business. Navigating a fiercely image conscious industry has allowed her to understand human insecurities better than most. However, it wasn’t the decades of working with others that drove her career to new heights- it was her own physical transformation.
Over the course of four years Stacie lost two hundred and thirty pounds, and as she puts it, “lost ten times that mentally and emotionally”. What she gained, however, had far more gravity than what she lost. She found the ability to tap into her own inner strength and beauty; no matter her dress size along the way. Stacie now has a message and the voice to pass that ability along to others.
Stacie understands and empathizes, not just in front of the camera but from behind it as well. She passes on confidence to her clients, which is part of why she has become one of the most sought after photographers in the country.
In 2013, she began blogging about the journey. Her honest and hilarious approach to real life situations garnered her followers right away. Readers weren’t just women and weren’t all in the process of losing weight. Stacie didn’t pass on dieting tips; she bared her soul and it was that honesty which resonated with people. In her first year of blogging, the Huffington Post offered her a place among their contributors. Those publications have now reached millions and helped people become more honest as artists and human beings.
Stacie says, “The response to the blogs has been overwhelming. Knowing that talking about your own flaws, fears and insecurities can help someone fight their own isn’t something you can really put into words. But nothing feels like connection with someone one on one.” With that idea in mind, a public speaking career was born.
Her speaking engagements are inspirational, educational, and deeply honest. They are also peppered with the same raw sarcasm and hilarious “real talk” that drove her blogs to success. Her presentations encourage artists to dig deeper, and provide a roadmap for maneuvering the image-obsessed culture we all exist in. Her talks go on to provide entertainers with pragmatic styling advice for all image related decisions. How can an artist own their power on stage, in photo shoots, and in video productions? Stacie is here to tell it like it is! She also works with other photographers and film students, coaching them on getting the most out of their clients, while simultaneously counseling women’s groups on personal empowerment.
Stacie lives in East Nashville, TN with her two dogs Earl and Peanut. When she isn’t wrangling rock stars, editing, blogging, or speaking, she can likely be found at the 5 Spot enjoying some live music or on her porch hanging with friends. She is a regular contributor to the East Nashvillian, and she doesn’t feel like crossing the river, but she will. She will if it’s for a song she likes.
